Sebastian's Space

This blog is about our son who has a rare genetic disease called Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID). His form of SCID is linked to a deficiency of the adenosine deaminase (ADA) enzyme. Basically, Sebastian doesn’t have an immune system and is very susceptible to infections that wouldn’t harm healthy children. He is currently participating in a Gene Therapy trial in Italy.

We Have The Date

We received an email from Dr. Aiuti letting us know that Sebastian’s first appointment will be on May 3! We booked our flights, and we’ll be arriving in Milano, Italia on Monday, April 30. We want to extend our thanks to all of you who have helped us reach this point. The outpouring of support and generosity is overwhelming and appreciated more than any of you will know. We are planning to use this blog to provide weekly updates of Sebastian’s progress while we’re in Italy, so please check back in May. Thanks again!
